MISSION COMMITTEE NEWS “Matthew 25 Church” The Mission Committee voted to accept the invitation of our denomination to designate our congregation as a “Matthew 25 Church”. We qualify to do so because, at the time of our small group meeting and as we prepared to call a new pastor, we committed to serving the needs which we could recognize as present in our immediate community and beyond. We were asked to pick from among three options as a goal for our church. These were: Building congregational vitality; Dismantling structural racism; and eradicating systemic poverty. We chose the first. We contacted headquarters in Louisville with our decision and became the first congregation in Glacier Presbytery to do so. We feel others will follow. Over 200 of our Presbyterian congregations have done so. Our only obligation as a result is that we are asked to let the Louisville office know how we are acting out our commitment by sending reports of our projects from time to time. FAITHFUL ONE $ PROJECT! The Mission and Outreach Committee has selected a single indigenous mom with four children as the next Faithful $1 project. The money collected will be used toward reducing her mortgage amount. Please read more about this mom and why the committee felt compelled to help out. This information can be found on the board behind the Faithful $1 giving bank. This project will continue through May. Thank you for your continued generosity. DID YOU KNOW? There is a drop box outside the front door of the Hamilton Police Department that you can turn in old medications that have expired. I called and asked if labels should be removed. I was told that the medication should be in the original container with the label still on, so they know what it is. |
